pastel prints and paintings

The basement at the Maryhill Art Museum is full of wonderful prints, most by Rodin.  I found his loose, simple style greatly inspiring, though the museum's lighting was not so good for photography.  I was contorting my body into all sorts of weird positions, trying to dodge the reflections of their can lights.

The three Rodin prints above remind me of the work of Cathy Cullis, whose authentic and expressive paintings and sketches I really enjoy.

The museum also had a nice exhibit on Loie Fuller -- a pioneer of modern dance who lead a very interesting life in Paris around the turn of the century.
