winter island

Well, here's a post that's been sitting in my drafts box forever!  The weekend of February 5th, Erik and I went out to Sauvie Island (just outside of Portland) for the annual "Raptor Road Trip," which is put on by the Portland Audubon Society.  We always have a great time taking pictures and enjoying the wintry island scene.  My favorite stop--which we tend to save for the end--is visiting with the "rescue birds."  You'll see their pictures at the end of the post.

Julio the Great Horned Owl and Hazel the Northern Spotted Owl.

Jack the Kestrel and a Peregrine Falcon, whose name I can't remember.

And here's Hazel again -- she was my favorite!
