Nestling

I was crossing my fingers that I would get to see some owls on our road trip to southeastern Oregon and so you can imagine how delighted I was when Erik and I came across a big nest with four fluffy babies and a mama great-horned owl perched close by (and possibly the dad also hanging out in the tree grove).  The babies were very much on alert as we stood quietly below, watching and photographing them, but the mama didn't care.  She opened her eyes once or twice, but certainly wasn't going to lose any of her precious nap-time on silly humans!
More later.... I'm still adjusting to being back in the city and having a roof over my head after eight days of camping and exploring some really remote (and incredibly beautiful) areas of Oregon.
